Lee Child’s novel Personal was the most borrowed book from the Port Macquarie Library over the last 12 months.
The book which is part of Child’s Jack Reacher thriller series has been borrowed 255 times since May 2016.
Library manager Jim Maguire said when a new Lee Child book is published it is not unusual for the facility to have over a hundred reservations.
The top 10 most borrowed were mostly made up of the American thriller genre.
The list also included two of Australia's biggest bestsellers Judy Nunn and Di Morrissey.
The library ran a report to uncover which books had been the most popular over the last 12 months.
The data from the Port Macquarie Library was reflective of the national consensus.
According to the 2017 Civica Libraries Index most borrowed novels within the crime, thriller and mystery genres dominated the list.
The annual Civica Libraries Index was compiled in partnership with participating regional and metropolitan libraries across Australia using the Civica Spydus integrated library management system.
Lee Child’s Make Me topped the ranking of most borrowed books in Australia. This was followed by Paula Hawkins’ Girl On The Train which was made into a film and released at the end of 2016.
Topping the list of most borrowed Australian books was Rain Music by Di Morrissey. The novel was inspired by the author’s adventures in far north Queensland and tells the story of two siblings who are struggling with a family tragedy.
