The horse events at Wauchope Showground attracted lots of young talent, as did the dairy cattle judging on the cattle lawns.
Eleven-year-old Charlie Norton from Kempsey, who was showing her cow, Berta, comes to the Wauchope Show every year, to get more experience.
I love the agricultural life. It’s what I do in my free time.

“I love the agricultural life. It’s what I do in my free time,” she said.
Three ponies and a group of pupils came from Port Macquarie High School to take part in the show.
Teacher Marion Napier said it was a really educational trip.
“The students are learning how the show works and what the standards are. It’s wonderful,” she said.
Over at the animal nursery, children and their parents got a chance to see and hold a variety of very cute creatures, from chicks and kittens, to rabbits and piglets.
This year, the showground has a new PA system and a new bar.
There were delicious refreshments available all around the ground, from hot food stalls and the Wauchope Lions canteen and Westpac Helicopter Support Group stall, to scrumptious snacks and lunches at the Ladies’ Auxiliary.
And the funfair proved popular too. There’s lots more in store at this year’s show.
