Tony remains in the intensive care unit at Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital.
His extensive injuries include numerous broken bones and lacerations to his entire body.
Leanne thanked the community for the support.
“The community support we are receiving is incredible,” she said.
“I am receiving messages from so many people including friends who have known him since they were five years old, school friends, and family near and far.
“There has even been support from people we spent time with 10 years ago on the Gold Coast and, of course, our local family and friends.
“He has touched a lot of lives in his 52 years,” she said.
Leanne confirmed that Tony continues to have surgeries.
“This will be a long and slow recovery.
“Last week a nurse said this is a marathon not a sprint, terms that Tony would understand – he did the Noosa Ironman last November.
“And we wait patiently,” she said.
Meanwhile a go fund me page set up by family friend Melinda Cockshutt has topped $25,000.
The fundraising page was set up to help the family with Tony’s operations and long period of rehabilitation.
