With four minutes to play with the scores locked, Newcastle applied pressure and from a quick ball, Bailey Allardice (Lakes United) stuck a field goal under pressure with a shot off his boot, which flew sweetly through the posts.
The East Coast Dolphins didn’t give up but unforced errors in pivotal positions didn’t help their case.
The game was a great advertisement for country football.
Winger Jamaine Anderson (Wauchope) scored two tries for East Coast while centre Lachlan Williams (Taree Red Rovers) also crossed.
Tony Thompson (Port Macquarie), Jordan Moore (Bowraville) and Ulysses Roberts (Bowraville) were strong for the Dolphins.
