The Lions Clubs of Port Macquarie, Tacking Point and Lake Cathie-Bonny Hills gathered together on March 5 to celebrate 100 years of Lions International.

It was also an opportunity to recognise the significant contribution of Lions in Port Macquarie since the first club was established in 1959.

Port Macquarie-Hastings Mayor, Peter Besseling, toasted Lions International while District Governor Mal Peters presented certificates to the members with more than 25 years service.

Past President Peter Mercer presented an in depth look at the history of Lions since its inception in 1917.
