The centre has a large meeting space for programs and training, more counselling and mediation rooms, space for supervised family visits with indoor and outdoor facilities and dual waiting rooms.
Interrelate area manager Eloise Neylon acknowledged the clients, the community and the staff.
“This kind of work is a privilege,” she said.
“We hope that this centre helps people in their process of healing as they go forward and we’ve tried to make it a place where people feel that sense of calm when they come in.”
Interrelate’s new centre is named in honour of the late Anne and Graham Seton in recognition of more than 40 years’ contribution to the organisation.
Mark and Colin Seton attended the ceremony.
“We trust it [the new centre] will indeed provide far reaching support to relationship building and relationship healing for that is what our parents would say mattered most,” Mark said.
Interrelate Board chairman Alan Gibson said the centre’s naming honoured a family that had been of great service to the organisation.
“Today, in dedicating the building in the Seton family name, is about recognising what they did, and in particular, what Graham did in the organisation,” he said on January 31.
Mr Gibson said the official opening was a celebration of the new space and a celebration of the service provided in the new space.
Interrelate delivers relationship services to individuals, couples, families, children, schools and communities.
Interrelate chief executive officer Patricia Occelli said Interrelate had an ongoing commitment to the region since 2006.
“This building is a significant capital investment and I think it’s a statement to the community saying Interrelate is here to stay,” she said.
“They key is we will continue to be adaptive and look at what the community needs of us and how we respond to that.”
Interrelate has relocated to Unit 5, 1-5 Merrymen Way, Port Macquarie.
