The aqua scramble is in every day of the school holidays and there is lap swimming all day too.
The pool is open Monday to Friday, 6am to 7pm, Saturday 8am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 6pm.
Entry is $4 for everyone over the age of two, and the inflatable is $2.50 for a 30-minute session.
“Come on down. Bring a picnic basket and your lunch. Use our facilities,” said Kylie.
The pool, the concourse and the kiddies pool have been fully refurbished during the upgrade. And there was a full rebuild of the filtration system.
The contractors installed two heat pumps, which can enable swimming nearly all year round, though it looks as if the council will adopt a ‘wait-and-see’ approach to that.
The three-metre diving board is still being refurbished and the council hopes to get government funding for a grandstand and a children’s water play area.
Shannel Debreceny from Wauchope was there with her daughter and son, Jasmyn and Saxon.
“It’s great. The kids have been busting for it to open. They didn’t want to miss it. They were coming, rain, hail or shine,” she smiled.
Alison Blackman from Sydney comes to Wauchope with her children, Lucinda and Lachlan Payne every school holidays to visit her parents, Helen and Paul, and they were loving the pool.
“It’s beautiful. It’s been worth the wait,” she said.
Wauchope mum, Lauren Sawle said her children were thoroughly enjoying the upgraded pool.
“It’s very modern and clean. It’ll be great when all the other improvements are finished,” she said.
Gary Paine was there with his daughter and grandchildren.
“It’s worth waiting for. If you don’t fix it properly, it’s not worth having,” he said.
Mitch Keft brought his young sons, Mavrik and Dominik along for a swim.
“It’s awesome, somewhere for the kids to learn to swim so they have got that life skill,” he said.
