An elderly man has been killed after the car he was driving hit a power pole at the northern entrance to Lake Cathie on Tuesday morning.

The single-vehicle accident happened at around 10am.
Paramedics treated the man, believed to be 84 years of age, at the scene.
He was transported to Port Macquarie Base Hospital. He later died in hospital.
Police said they would continue their investigations into the fatality.
Emergency services attended the scene with power cut to some 2977 customers in the Lake Cathie and Bonny Hills area.
SES, fire brigade and police also attended the scene.
Essential Energy has confirmed that power was restored to customers in the area about an hour later.
“Essential Energy will replace the power pole once the area is clear and the police provide us with the go ahead,” a spokesperson said.
