The appropriately called End of an Aussie Era Car Show is on Sunday at Westport Park.
Up to 300 vehicles, including a T-model Ford, are expected to converge on the park for the day.
Mid North Coast Ford Owners Club spokesperson Christine Erskine said the friendly rivalry would be put aside: “But only for the day,” she added.
The day takes on more meaning when you consider the iconic Australian-made vehicles will be no more, with local production ceasing.
“And that’s the main reason behind the decision to host this event together: it really is the end of an era,” Mrs Erskine said.
“The Old Holden Club members have been invited as a tribute to all the Fords and Holdens that have been produced over the years.
“Months of planning has gone into the event which kicks off with cars arriving from 7am.”
Holden club spokesperson Wayne Webber said the day is a unique chance to see both makes of cars together.
“I reckon this is the first joint Ford and Holden show and shine anywhere in Australia. It is truly a unique day,” he said.
“This will really be a walk down memory lane for many people.”
Vehicles from Wollongong, Central Coast, Grafton, Taree, Newcastle and even south east Queensland will join with local vehicle lovers for the day.
Both local Holden and Ford clubs share a vision for supporting their community with proceeds to be donated to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service. In previous years, the clubs have donated to the SES, men’s shed and the women’s refuge.
“Members from both clubs are in this together. It’s really a friendly rivalry,” Mrs Erskine added.
The day will include jumping castles, face painting, food, coffee, cold drinks and market stalls.
All proceeds form the show and shine will be donated to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
November also marks the 10th anniversary of the first Ford show and shine. Both clubs boast strong membership numbers.
