The talented Port City Breaker is one of 13 New South Wales women who were named in the Indigenous All Stars squad to play the Women’s All Stars in February.
“I have been there before (in Newcastle) and just being in the crowd and atmosphere was a good feeling so I can only imagine how great it would be to play on the field,” she said.
“It will be great to experience another world class venue if I get the chance and I'm always grateful and lucky when these opportunities do arise.”
Selectors picked a squad of 25 after last weekend’s match between the NSW Koori Women and Queensland Murri Women, which was won by the NSW girls 28-24.
The squad will be reduced to 18 in coming weeks.
If Smith makes the cut, she will back up her performance from February this year when she played at Suncorp Stadium.
She knows the hard work is only just beginning.
In her favour is that she is no stranger to hard work having led the Port City Breakers to an undefeated Group 3 ladies league tag title in 2016.
Smith will have a strict training program and will have to complete fortnightly testings that will be sent in to the coaching staff.
“It’s going to be a big 12 weeks coming up to make final cut and I know I need to train the house down,” she said.
“I’m going to put in a lot of hard work and really get in the grind to get myself in good form and as fit as I can be to give myself a shot at the final selection for the team.”
The fixture will take place as part of the 2017 Harvey Norman Rugby League All Stars on February 10.
The Indigenous team will look to avenge the 24-4 loss endured to the Women's All Stars in 2016.
