The focus of this years ceremony was to recognise academic, cultural or sporting achievements of 84 students from year three to year 12.
The evening was hosted by Hastings Secondary College students Tiffany Bartlett, Shawn Wilson, Nathan Barnett and Isabelle Woodham, alongside Executive Principal Mr Willem Holvast.
Mr Holvast reinforced how the theme for Education Week 2016 – ‘shared stories, better learning, stronger communities’ – aligns to the celebration of excellence within the seven public schools of the Hastings Valley Community of Schools.
The evening’s presentations of awards were interspersed with showcase performances by ‘Dance Elite’ and ‘Hatchlings Big Band,’ the HVCS enrichment dance and music groups.
The audience was also entertained by Tanisha Palmer, a quality soloist and the talented Saxophone Quartet, highlighting the superb collective efforts and talents of students and teachers across our great local public schools.
Mr Holvast thanked the staff and students who had made the night a great success.
“Tonight has illustrated that, as a community of schools, we are well situated to continue to build on the exceptional opportunities we provide students in our schools,” he said.
