Candidates must nominate with the returning officer by noon on Wednesday August 10.
Locations and contact details are on www.votensw.info or by calling 1300 134 736.
22 returning officers service a region of more than one council.
The electoral commission says the nomination process is one of the most important phases of the electoral cycle.
This is when the community learns who will stand to represent them on their local council.
On Wednesday August 10, returning officers across the state will hold draws to determine the order in which candidates’ names appear on the ballot paper.
Each candidate needs to be nominated by two other electors, or by a registered political party.
All candidates must make sure that their nominators are enrolled for the council area or ward in which they’re standing, and nominators should check their own enrolment status.
Acting NSW electoral commissioner Linda Franklin said: “We suggest that candidates are proposed by more than two nominators, in case some nominators are not correctly enrolled.”
Details of nominated candidates will be posted on the NSW Electoral Commission website www.votensw.info as they are processed.
Information about nominations is available in the handbook for parties, groups, candidates and scrutineers from www.votensw.info For candidate enquiries, phone 1300 088 942
