The awards, run by the Port Macquarie Chamber of Commerce, recognise the local business leaders who foster growth and development in their business, while contributing to the local community.
They also acknowledge people who go above and beyond in providing an exceptional customer service experience.
“Since the inception of the Greater Port Macquarie Business Awards back in 2006, it’s great to see how it has grown and evolved, providing a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the great things about being in business in the Hastings,” said Port News Sales Manager and chamber member, Cathie Linklater.
“The Port Macquarie News has been involved with the Awards since the start and we look forward to celebrating the 10 year milestone at the Gala Dinner.”
Organisers have received an impressive number of entries.
“It just goes to show what an amazing, dynamic and active business community we have,” said awards spokesperson Lisa McPherson.
Voting is now open for the Local Industry Awards and the People’s Choice Award.
In a change to previous years, the Business Choice and the Local Industry Awards finalists and winners will be determined by a score from three judges, plus a ranking from the public voting process.
Representatives from Port Macquarie, Wauchope and the Camden Haven are included on the judging panel.
The Business Excellence Awards are scored by judges from outside our region.
The voting component invites feedback from everyone, and entrants will be encouraged to tell their customers, suppliers, staff to get involved in the process and to show their support.
“We anticipate the public participation will increase awareness of our local businesses and the contribution they make every day to the amazing place we live and the lifestyles we lead,” Lisa McPherson said.
Award finalists will be revealed over the next few weeks and the winners’ announcement will take place at a Gala Dinner on Friday August 19, 2016.
As this year is the 10th anniversary of the awards, the business community will be celebrating with a black tie event at the refurbished Port Panthers ballroom.
“We are working hard behind the scenes to bring some glamour to the night, to and ensure it is a very memorable occasion,” Lisa McPherson said.
