Port Macquarie is one of 10 clubs who will now take home a share of $10,000 with the money going towards purchasing training equipment for the club’s Auskick program.
Juniors president Adrian Ryan said it was a worthwhile bonus as they start to prepare for next season.
“It’s a bit of a battle for us each year to make ends meet so it’s well-deserved,” he said.
As a result of the grant, the club may unearth the next Isaac Heeney, a Newcastle local who graduated through the Swans Academy, or Lance Franklin – their leading goalkicker this season.
The grants program opened earlier this year with myriad clubs from all across the country entering.
Port Macquarie was chosen as one of ten winners to share in $10,000 as the grant will be used to great effect by the club.
