The Dolphins side is made up of women from the Group 3 competition and represents the whole North Coast.
The Wauchope Blues were lucky enough to have four players selected in the team, they were Nat Hurrell, Larissa Ward, KristyRoods and Emily Lester.
Hurrell was unable to play in the final due to finding out her and husband Dean Hurrell are expecting their first baby at the end of the year. However she did make the trip down to support the team in their emphatic win over the Central Coast Centurions.
The final score in the game was 8 - 7. The game ended in dramatic fashion and was a real spectacle for the crowd.
With only a minute and a half remaining Central Coast broke the deadlock at 6 all by kicking a field goal to give them a 1 point buffer, the game looked like it was all over as the final seconds ticked down.
The Dolphins had other ideas and attempted a short kick off which succeeded and with only seconds remaining attempted a field goal from 40 meters out. The kick missed and the full time siren sounded when the game took a dramatic turn.
The referee awarded the Dolphins a penalty kick 10 meters out and in front of the posts after he deemed a Central Coast player intentionally took out the legs of the Dolphins player whilst she was in the process of taking the field goal.
The Dolphins opted to take the 2 point penalty kick and when the kicker put it straight over the black dot the team erupted with joy.
Port City Breakers player Simone Smith was named player of the match. Congratulations to East Coast Dolphins coach Scott Jacklin (Taree City) and group 3 president Wayne Bridge and secretary Barrie Smith on the historic win for Group 3 and Ladies League Tag.
The Wauchope Blues will be back in action this week as they travel to Wingham to take on the Tigers with matches starting from 11.30.
