The Open girls defeated Dubbo High School 32-5 with tries scored by Kitiara Porter 2, Samantha Porter, Taylor Long, Jacana Ward and Ocean Cole. Maddi Boxhall kicked a conversion.
The Open’s girls then played the eventual winners, Chifley High School and went down 5-15. Jacana Ward scored a try. Unfortunately due to a lack of players and injuries, the Open’s had to forfeit their next two games. But they finished 4th in the State, a very good achievement.
The U16’s had their first game against Killara High and won 40-0 with tries to Tori Bartz 2, Shikira Porter 2, Lacey Hearfield, Paris Rock, Breanna Green and Maddi Boxhall. A very impressive start to the day.
The U16’s second game was against St Clare’s Taree. The girls won this game 20-5 with tries to Samantha Porter, Tori Bartz, Holly Auld and Lacey Hearfield.
This qualified the girls for the semi-finals against Hunter Sports High School. The game began brilliantly for the Wauchope girls with Holly Auld scoring from the kick off and then Samantha Porter scoring. We were up 10-0.
Unfortunately we were unable to sustain our lead and went down 10-15. Hunter won the tournament so it proved that the Wauchope girls were in the mix.
In the play-off for third spot we played Terrigal High School and again went down 10-15 in a very close match.
The U16’s finished 4th in the State, a wonderful achievement.
Best for Wauchope in the Opens were Jacana Ward, Taylor Long, Kitiara Porter and Ocean Cole. Best in the U16's were Holly Auld, Tori Bartz, Cheyenne Norris, Shikira Porter and Georgia McKinnon.
Thanks to everyone who helped, especially the parents, and to all our sponsors.
