Counting has been underway since 6pm on election night and it looks as if both Luke Hartsuyker and David Gillespie will retain their respective seats of Cowper and Lyne.

ABC’s vote compass predicts Hartsuyker, from The Nationals, will retain his seat with a margin of approximately 54 per cent over his closest rival independent Robert Oakeshott with approximately 47 per cent.
In the seat of Lyne the prediction is for sitting member David Gillespie, also from The Nationals, to retake the seat with a margin of 62 per cent in front of his closest rival Peter Alley from the Labor part with approximately 39 per cent.
From Bulahdelah to Wauchope and out to Gloucester voters in the Lyne electorate went to the polls.

Cowper voters were no-doubt pleased to get to the polls with their seat drawing national attention with independent Rob Oakeshott coming out of retirement to challenge the sitting member Luke Hartsuyker from The Nationals.
