AN army of Vikings have been selected to represent the Mid North Coast Zone team for matches in Armidale on Saturday.
Port Macquarie dominates the team which will play at the NSW Country Championships with 10 Vikings joining two Pirates and one from the Wauchope Thunder.
Pirates duo Nick Webb and Caleb Scholes will join the Thunder's Tom Blanch.
Jeremy Segol, David Tunstead, Tom Woods, Hamish McCormack, Lyndon Gale, Adam McCormack, Glen Littler, Kenny Anderson, Dan Willoughby and Sam Flanagan will take their combinations from the Vikings on to the rep scene which will benefit coach Andrew Kable.
"The combinations they'll have will be good for us and the fact all these boys are regular first graders is another positive," Kable said.
"They're the undefeated premiers and they're starting on their merry way again."
Kable said it was an easy decision to make Glen Littler the captain of the side.
"It's his third season on the representative scene and it's his third season of rugby," he said.
"He's got the experience, he's got good leadership and has the respect of the officials so we felt he was a good choice for the job."
Kable said he was impressed with what Scholes would bring to the side in the forwards.
"I've been quite impressed with how he's played because he's a traditional lock and on the Mid North Coast we don't have too many of them," he said.
"We normally lack size in that type of player and he fills the gap that was left by Luke Stewart's withdrawal."
Vikings winger Sam Flanagan will bring some excitement and spark to the side in attack.
"I haven't seen too much of him, but I know he's scored a few tries."
Kable knows Central West won't be a pushover.
"They will be an enormous challenge for us."
