The hall is owned by the Pappinbarra Progress Association, which got a grant from the council for the paint.
Twenty members rolled up their sleeves and painted it themselves.
Lisa McLeod is president of the PPA committee.
"As a committee, we talked about the colours, and at two of our monthly barbecues recently, we showed people the colour samples.
"Plenty of people liked them and as a committee, we agreed on the colours.
"We spent 800 hours painting the hall, and we're pleased with it.".
Local man, Andrea Carboni is one of the people seeing red over the hall's new look. He says the colour scheme isn't environmentally friendly.
"It should have been traditional Australian colours of light green and light yellow to blend into the beautiful valley."
But Lisa says the naysayers are in a minority.
"The reaction to the colour has been really positive.
"Three or four people aren't happy and we say it's hard to please everybody.
"Why didn't they say anything sooner?
"We are always encouraging people to join our committee. These are heritage colours. The hall is Roasted Pumpkin."
It's a popular community facility and upcoming events include an Indian cooking class and a trivia night and there are plans for a community garden and a sculpture.
