THE decision by Queensland's Palaszczuk government to adopt and implement lockout laws similar to those introduced in NSW by the O'Farrell government in 2014 is loudly applauded by Kings Cross residents for placing the safety and well-being of the public ahead of the interests of alcohol peddlers and bar barons as well as standing up to relentless political pressure from alcohol lobby groups and their highly paid mouthpieces.

Premier Baird has been a strong advocate of the lockout laws and is on the record stating clearly that the laws have reduced incidents of alcohol-fuelled violence dramatically. Kings Cross residents testify to the difference they have made.
It is essential the Premier and his government maintain their stance on these laws for the greater good - in the face of much misinformation about detrimental impacts of the lockout laws on pubs, clubs and otherbusinesses.
It is over to you, Premier Baird, to place the safety of the public first rather than take the easy option and cave in to the very vocal and self-serving demands of alcohol lobbyists.
