Surveyors and specialists will enter the properties to ensure a land survey and condition assessments are effective.
The overall project will undertake a review of the Port-Macquarie-Hastings Council 2004 Settlement Shores Canal maintenance plan in order to update the plan to include a prioritised and costed 10-year maintenance program.
The council has written to residents.
Contractors Haskoning Australia, with sub-consultant Astute Surveying, is undertaking the review.
"These works will involve detailed survey and inspections of all canal infrastructure to produce
a comprehensive canal maintenance and dredging plan for the Settlement Shores Estate
Canals," the letter said.
The proposed work includes a hydrographic survey and a land-based survey of the foreshore area.
A condition assessment of the waterway, foreshore protection and canal infrastructure is proposed following the survey.
