A second solar panel system has been added to the roof thanks to a $20,000 grant from the state government's Community Building Partnership program.
Rotary Lodge chairman Phil Hafey said the money which Rotary Lodge saved on electricity could be spent in other ways.
"It just allows us to improve the services that we provide our clients such as furniture, servicing the rooms and quality of linen," he said.
Rotary Lodge expects to save more than $12,000 annually on electricity taking into account all its solar panels.
Rotary Lodge, located within the Port Macquarie Base Hospital precinct, provides accommodation for patients and their families, carers and friends.
Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams said the installation of solar panels was a really good project.
"It not only provides them with the funding to put up the infrastructure but there are ongoing benefits for as long as the life of the solar panels," she said.
"I think it is a really good investment of government funds."
The Community Building Partnership program supports the improvement of community infrastructure.
Solar power specialists Harelec installed the solar panels. Harelec's Jamie Harrison said the business did the job at below cost and donated extra kilowatts to the system.
He recognised the Harelec staff who donated some of their time to the project and many other projects.
