After several years of successfully exporting to Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and Indonesia, Meltique Beef striploins are now stocked in the frozen food sections at Hastings Co-op's three Supa IGA supermarkets.
Locals can sample the tasty morsels for themselves at tastings this week.
Tastings will be held between 3pm and 6pm on Wednesday at Timbertown Supa IGA, on Thursday at the Port Macquarie IGA store and Friday at Wauchope SUPA IGA.
Meltique Beef's sales manager Joel Laurie explained that the unique beef striploin is produced to "look and work like marbled beef", a term used to describe grain fed beef, leading to soluble fat deposits between the fibre of lean meat.
Other selling points include its consistent portion size (due to the packaging process) and that it can be cooked from frozen.
"The striploin is a simulated marbled beef product, larded with beef tallow for consistency and guaranteed quality.
"Like grain fed beef, the oil infused into Meltique Beef melts out of the meat during cooking and helps protect the fibre of the meat from drying up.
"It is a full-flavoured steak rich in texture and taste," Mr Laurie said.
The industrial area businesss has been applauded for producing "one of the most innovative products ever produced in Australia" and was recently named in the top 25 Value Added Beef Processors list in Australia.
