And that makes it one I will never forget.
The Cowboys were gone for all money as the Broncos were making metres up the middle and charging towards the premiership.
I thought Kane Linnett's knock on, when he simply just had to fall over in the in-goal, was the last chance. The Broncos, it seemed, were defending far too well even for a player of Johnathan Thurston's calibre to find a hole to exploit.
The pass was brilliant, and it was heartbreaking - for a bandwagon Cowboy like me and the others at the party I was at - to see it go to ground.
He'd set that play up all night, and we'd seen him to it time and time again for Queensland.
I had a horrible feeling which told me that was it. The Broncos were going to win.
I know that sounds ridiculous. There was still more than 20 minutes on the clock at that stage.
But Thurston made the most of the other chance at glory.
Insert that famous saying about the hour and the man here. JT just wouldn't accept defeat in the dying seconds.
He ran around in circles as the Broncos defence closed in, shrugging off two would-be tacklers before getting the ball to Michael Morgan who delivered one of the great flick passes for Kyle Feldt to score in the corner.
It was amazing. One of the great grand final moments in the greatest of all deciders, in my book.
Just one more thing would have made it perfect: A classic Thurston goal from the sideline to win.
Ben Hunt is probably wishing that would have happened too.
