Page overcame adversity, with a one-lap penalty in the second fixture of the day looking like it might cost him dearly in the race to the title against Grant Trask.
But the Prince of Port Macquarie came good, with a couple of extremely quick starts powering him to victory in races three and four in the Australian Formula Powerboats weekend.
In both races, he led by half the length of the straight.
Technically, he won the second race, but was relegated to last thanks to a penalty for passing on the wrong side of a buoy. Page was pushed wide by a competitor.
He was thrilled with the results. Page made up a 100 point deficit on Trask to take the victory.
It was a surreal feeling for him shortly after his victory lap with the chequered flag.
“I can’t describe it,” Page said.
“When I won it last year, there was no way I thought I was going to win it again.
“I thought there was just too much competition this year.” He didn’t let the disappointment of the race two disqualification get to him. Page knew he had to refocus his attention to the remaining contests.
“I just had to let it all go,” he said.
It worked. He took the title by 275 points over the Victorian Trask.
Page was supported by father Peter, who also won Australian championships as a driver.
Briney Rigby won the formula four weekend and championship yesterday.
The F3 title went to Jake Greentree.
Corey Davoll was too fast in the F2 championship, taking victory yesterday.
