He has been the main man all tournament and now Ryley Batt has an Olympic gold medal to bring back to Port Macquarie.
Batt pumped his way to 37 individual goals in a super-human performance last night as Australia downed Canada 66-51 to win the wheelchair rugby gold medal.
Four years ago it was heartache for the Steelers in the Beijing final against the United States but victory never seemed in doubt in London.
The Steelers were never headed in the game, establishing a seven-point lead after the first quarter and winning every stanza thereafter.
Coach Brad Dubberley said Batt is the supreme wheelchair rugby athlete and without his inspirational skipper, he said the team would be lost.
"Ryley is just a freak athlete. He is unbelievable at what he does," Dubberley said.
"I'm just so proud for that kid, he's been through so much over the years and to get this result is just huge. He played a fantastic game, but as did the whole team."
Batt will be the star attraction at the weekend's street parade in Port Macquarie.
