As the week wraps up on Saturday she felt the youth had made a difference in a short period of time and had helped to break down some stigmas associated with that age group.
"The best part about Youth Week has been seeing the big crowds at all the events and seeing people make a difference," she said.
"We wanted to try and work on getting rid of that stigma and I think we've done that. Being an organiser you doubt yourself so much about whether anyone will turn up and how it will all go, but social media has pulled through and it's been really good."
On Saturday night the Hay Street forecourt will be awash with colour, stalls and music.
"Hopefully the laneway party will go off; it's difficult to say whether it will be as big as Waves and Melodies because everyone knows about that and it's been a part of the week for so long," she said. "We'll have markets that will sell clothes, there will be artwork, home-made jewellery and we've just started to paint a massive octopus on the ground which will have tentacles that go up the side of some of the buildings."
She said they were hopeful the octopus which will appear on the ground would become a permanent feature.
"We could take spray cans and spray a wall or we could do something like this which has a meaning," she said.
