There are four Hastings youngsters pushing the limits of their chosen sport and they don’t look to be slowing down any time soon.
Jayden (17), Briana (15), and twins, Benjamin and Regan (10) have recently returned from the Max Kirwin Australian National Water Ski Championships in Mulwala NSW.
Between the four siblings they almost need a forklift for the silverware they brought back with them.
Jayden who competes in the under 17s scored a bronze in the jump, a gold in the trick and a bronze overall.
Briana who also competes in under 17s won a bronze in the slalom, silver in the jump and trick and a bronze for overall.
Ben won gold in slalom, trick and overall.
Regan finished a bronze in the slalom, silver in the trick and a silver for overall.
Just as incredible as the youngsters talents, is how they were first introduced to the sport.
Their mother Trish said it came down to complete luck.
“We were holidaying in Brisbane and we were on our way home when we saw Stoney Park and thought it looked interesting,” she said.
“We had a go at it and the kids loved it and they haven’t looked back.”
Eventually the family uprooted from their north-western Sydney home and moved a stones throw from the Telegraph Point ski park where they frequent.
Ben has now won the event two years in a row and holds the under 10 slalom record.
Briana boasts the under 14 NSW and national jump record and the under 14 national overall record.
She has also been selected to compete in the Australian Junior World championships next year at Stoney Park.
From that, the team will be selected to compete in the Junior World championships later on that year.
