Remember the likes of Timana Tahu and Darren Albert? More recently Akuila Uate, who shot to fame like a rocket.
Well, Port Macquarie may very well be able to claim their next star winger in a few years time.
Sam McIntyre making great in roads at the famous National Rugby League club and will pull on the blue and red tomorrow for his first match as an under 18s SG Ball player.
Starting with the Port City Breakers in the under 6s, McIntyre moved to the Port Sharks when he was 11 and went on to make several Group 3 representative sides.
He also gained selection for the Australian Schoolboys team and the Northern Country team where he was noticed by the Knights and signed to their under 16s squad.
"After that I was lucky enough to do the high performance unit program and was then selected for SG Ball for the Knights this season," he said.
"The level of football between the younger sides and now SG Ball is definitely a big leap.
"The size of some of the players and the speed of the game is a lot tougher."
His dream is, of course, to continue his path towards becoming an NRL player.
That could receive a big boost if he is selected for the Australian Schoolboys again at the end of the season.
"I've learned so much since being with Newcastle and have gained a lot of confidence," McIntyre said.
"Learning all of my skills again from a lot of people who really know what they're doing has been really beneficial for my football.
"I feel that I'm really confident and getting better and better because of the system Newcastle have in place and how well they educate you."
McIntyre would love to make a permanent move to an NRL club in 2016 but is just focused on playing well week in and week out.
"For now I'm just focusing on cementing my spot on the wing in the SG Ball side," he said.
"It's only 10 weeks long so after that I will come back and play under 18s for the Sharks."
