MacKillop Senior College and St Paul's High School will now be known as MacKillop College.
The change makes the Ocean Drive campuses one integrated school for students in year seven to 12.
The junior campus will be on the western side of the road, with the seniors located on the seaside of Ocean Drive.
There are approximately 1000 students enrolled at the college this year.
A college spokeswoman said the amalgamation would build stronger connections between teachers across years seven to 12, which will boost learning opportunities for students.
Former principals Tim McCosker and Peter Murphy have passed the torches to Anne O'Brien.
Mrs O'Brien has extensive experience running large campuses - she spent a decade at St Joseph's Regional College from its founding in 2003.
Since then she has been a consultant with the Catholic Diocese of Lismore.
Mrs O'Brien has said she intends to keep sacred the histories and successes of the two schools, and will use their legacies to build the future of MacKillop College.
Later this term the performing arts complex will be officially launched, which will boost the school's resources even more.
It's all go at the new College this week with the junior swimming carnival yesterday and the senior version today.
Year 12 students were busy on Monday exploring career options at the university roadshow, while Friday will see senior drama students travelling to Sydney on Friday to witness the best of last year's HSC performances at OnStage.
