Hyde captured four scalps in a single over as his team overcame the Pies by 63 runs at Wayne Richards Park.
Hyde was on a hat-trick twice. The six balls went 2, wicket, wicket, dot, wicket, wicket.
He wasn't able to complete the hat-trick when he came on for another over later in the match.
"I pushed it a bit down leg and Craig McElroy got a pad on it and got a single," he said.
Hyde's figures were still remarkable: 4-3 from two overs.
Two of the captain's wickets were massive scalps. He had the dangerous Jesse Schmidt (caught by Ricky Arnell) and BJ Schneider (caught Liam Coelho) for golden ducks.
Hyde's first wicket was Tim Harris, whom he bowled for 15.
Harris had the top score for the Magpies as they fell well short of Macca's 8-139. Matt Broderick made 14.
Liam Coelho also took three wickets for Macquarie. He finished with 3-5 from two overs.
Earlier, Chris Cole made his trademark fast start for Macquarie, belting three sixes on his way to 34. Hyde made 32 and Michael Pelley 28.
Brendan Cunningham and Schmidt took three wickets each for the Magpies.
Camden Haven struck first on the day, rolling Port City Leagues Magpies for honours in the third grade competition.
The Magpies batted first and made 7-124 from their 20 overs, but the Haven passed the figure with four wickets in hand to win the George Spencer Shield.
Port City Leagues Magpies swooped on a win against Port Panthers Pirates in the Brett Border Shield final.
The Pirates were unable to chase down the Pies' 7-149. They were all out in the 20th over for 109.
Warren Preston took four wickets for the Magpies.
Rod Morton scored 34 for the Pirates. Phil Baker chipped in with 16.
It's back to two-day cricket on Saturday. Macquarie Hotel will take on Comboyne, and Hyde and co need an outright victory to stay in semi final contention, as the team has a bye in the last round.
"Otherwise we're relying on other results," Hyde said.
