From a 10-month-old to a 17-year-old, who was an avid fan as a youngster, the children loved the colourful costumes, friendliness and happy demeanour of the performing quintet, despite being a little overawed.
Kate Eller, 17, has to make monthly visits to the children's ward for blood transfusions and treatment of an immune deficiency she was diagnosed with 18 months ago.
"My mum is a pre-school teacher and I always watched Hi-5 with my sisters," Kate said.
"The songs are easy to catch on and I would dance in front of the TV."
She said it was good to meet them and made for a much more fun hospital visit than usual.
Eight-year-old Caitlin Green had been treated for the bacterial infection scarlet fever, but immediately brightened up when she saw the band of ebullient entertainers.
"I love to watch them and dance, " Caitlin said.
Mum Nicola said she had watched the group on the hospital TV in the morning and was very excited to meet them.
Toddler Amayia Chick has been in hospital with a tummy bug since Tuesday and didn't quite know what all the fuss was about.
But her mum Suzzanna Fettell said Amayia's two and a half-year-old brother Kylan watches the group on TV and has their DVDs.
"He will be really disappointed he wasn't here to see them," Ms Fettell said.
"I'll just have to take him to the show," she said.
Hospital visitor Kathryn McNee had her three young ones with her.
"Alice [8], and Elizabeth [2] are big fans and love to dance with the songs," Ms McNee said.
To oblige their young fans the effervescent twenty-somethings sang Love in beautiful harmony as the kids joined in the hand movements.
After a quick trip north to Coffs Harbour Hi-5 will return for a concert at Panthers Port Macquarie on January 23 at 10am.
Tickets are available at club reception on 6580 2300 for $26.
