Wauchope Public School Choir will form part of the 1300 strong children's choir at the Sydney Entertainment Centre event.
The boys and girls left by train on Tuesday and will be ably supported by teachers Mrs Lee and Mrs Rock along with a bus load of other students and teachers from the school who will attend the matinee performance today.
The choir has been rehearsing under the tutelage of Mrs Dignum and Mrs Brassey since they were chosen to perform.
Port Macquarie Public School student Riley Dures is thrilled to be one of the solo performers this year.
She is one of just 33 students chosen from public schools across NSW to lead the cast of 3600 performers at the 31st annual Schools Spectacular.
The theme for this year's concert is This is Australia, paying tribute to the diversity that Australia offers.
Riley is a year 6 student who also attends Centre Stage Theatre Factory, and has recorded 20 of her favourite songs for her own YouTube account.
Principal Brett Thurgate said the whole school is extremely proud of Riley.
"It's a huge achievement for her to be chosen as a soloist," he said.
She will be singing one of the year's most popular songs - Let it Go - from the Disney movie Frozen.
Rehearsals for this year's spectacular have been underway since the end of September and Riley has been travelling to and from Sydney regularly, Mr Thurgate said.
Among the 2000 dancers performing at the entertainment centre will be 12 girls selected from Port Macquarie High School.
Principal Lorraine Haddon said the school is right behind the girls, who auditioned via digital recording and were chosen from among 400 public school try outs.
"The P&C has done a lot of fund-raising to help the girls and their families with expenses," Mrs Haddon said.
"It's all very exciting. I'm not able to go, but I will be watching on NBN at 7pm on Saturday."
The show will be re-broadcast on GEM at 12.30pm on Sunday.
