Wauchope Bakery's Daniel Manwarring came home from the baking show with the top awards for his sausage rolls and wholemeal bread, and placings for banana bread, savoury bread, mudcake, pasties, gourmet pies, wholemeal rolls, gateaux, fruit teacakes and plain pies.
Thirty-four bakers competed for the trophies in 30 categories in the baking show, which is held four times a year in different areas of the state to make it easier for regional bakers to take part.
This year's event in Port Macquarie was the first time Daniel has entered a baking show under his own bakery's name, having previously prepared entries for former employers.
His previous involvement was useful, Daniel says, allowing him to take on board feedback from the judges to keep refining and improving his products. Entries are judged on flavour, volume, mouth feel, smell and overall look.
He is pretty pleased with the outcome but says he can do better, targeting double the number of trophies next year.
"There's more to come," he says.
