There are around 400 juniors having fun on either Tuesday or Thursday and then more than 400 senior players doing battle in three divisions, men, women and mixed. Feedback from players and referees is very positive and all seems right for a sensational season.
Last week the men kicked off their season with some very good games and close results. Wave Bowl, without the little master "Willo", had a 3 all draw with Harvest Screen Print who will improve with each game, Finnian's Irish Tavern, missing the enthusiastic Lance Kedward, had a 3 all draw with the old "Flanagan Crew" now known as Ian Brown Sand & Gravel.
It will be interesting to see who wins the "Stay Late" award these two teams hold through the season. Coast2 Coast got home 4-2 over new team Everything Is Awesome, Fernhill Tavern were a bit too good for Steeline winning 8-4 and then two teams with brand new playing rosters, Essential Energy and King & Campbell had a great tussle with the former winning 7-4.
A hearty welcome back to a few players who have been off the field for a while, Mark Bullock, Garry Adams, Duane Takiari, Nathan Boyd, Wayne Prince, Troy Thompson, Simon Martin, Steve Mitchell, Tim Rampling, Alistair Fletcher, Blair Hancock, John Chilko, Chad Chesher and Greg Lawrence.
The ladies had some close results and a couple of run aways as well. Laurieton Hotel and Daycare on Lincoln had a 5 all draw even though Tahney Luck (Swanny) scored four for Daycare. Kelly Shipway chipped in the other for Daycare while Lisa Wilkes and Jess Slater scored a double each for The Pub with Taylee Eames making the fifth.
The draws for tomorrow evening are available at www.portmacquarietouch.com however should that link not work (apparently been issues) simply Google Port Macquarie Touch.
That's it for week but please keep in touch.
