Twelve Port Macquarie High School students are living their dream as they prepare for the experience of a lifetime at Sydney Entertainment Centre in November.
To make it a reality, they need the community's help to raise money for travel and accommodation expenses.
"This is an exciting opportunity for the girls to be a part of the biggest public school concert in Australia," teacher Jacynta Moylan said. "It's been a gruelling process and they've worked very hard to get here, with audition tapes sent in in February and having to wait until May to find out we were selected."
The talented dance group will perform alongside 3500 of New South Wales' most talented singers, dancers, musicians and actors on November 28 and 29.
In the lead-up, they need to travel the state to practice with fellow dancers. While the group has been working hard to raise funds to help families subsidise the costs, they need help.
"Being a part of this production involves the girls giving up their lunch times, afternoons and weekends for rehearsals at the school, in Grafton, Newcastle and Sydney, which is very costly.
"We're hoping the wider community will get behind them with sponsorships or donations," Mrs Moylan said. Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams congratulated the students on achieving such a "significant milestone" and urged locals dig deep and help the group "make memories that will last a lifetime".
