Port Macquarie-Hastings Council - in partnership with Hastings Landcare - will be supporting Planet Ark's National Tree Day by assisting with the planting of trees at the Candelo Close reserve near Hastings Primary School on Braemar Drive (near Cross Street).
Thanks to a generous donation of $1800 from the Holiday Coast Credit Union, Hastings Landcare is providing the plants for National Tree Day.
Council and Hastings Landcare would like to extend an invitation to members of the community to join in the planting on Sunday from 9am to 12pm, and share a free family BBQ to celebrate the occasion.
Mayor Peter Besseling said the natural resources section of Council supported and promoted the protection and restoration of bushland reserves. This is done through strong community partnerships with Hastings Landcare, the community and conservation groups.
“In addition to attending our local community event, residents can also plant trees in their own backyards, courtyard gardens, balconies or green spaces,” said Cr Besseling
“National Tree Day is a call-to-action for all Australians to Get Outside and Grow, for their own health and that of the environment.”
