The Sharks, who went into the match winning five of their last six matches, didn't seem to be on song with the ball in hand and the Blues were more than happy to make them pay.
Robbie Trembath was happy to lead the way along with Matt Bird, who had a great game and crossed the stripe for the visitors.
While the Blues kicked-off the scoring early, it was the Sharks who showed promise when fullback Harley Gore skipped his way through the defence for a four pointer.
Making things worse for the visitors was the sin-binning of Dean Hurrell for a professional foul.
However, in his absence the team was able to score twice, with centre Beau White a real stand-out.
Young Sharks hooker Jake Flanagan celebrated his birthday with a magnificent individual try, but despite the effort the Sharks lacked the most important aspect - team cohesion.
The Blues stuck to their guns, out muscling the Sharks and putting on some huge hits, particularly captain Trembath whose solid contact could be heard from the grandstand.
Down 20-18 in the second half, the Blues showed the form that has made them heavyweights over the past two seasons, fighting back to post another try and set up a close finish.
It took a brilliant ball from halfback Aaron Ison to seal the victory as he put Bird over for a four pointer to cap off a great afternoon for Wauchope.
The under-18s and reserve grade both suffered defeats with a young under-18s Blues player badly breaking both bones in his arm.
