LOCAL chef and Wauchope lad Michael Shubert, the Head Chef from Sails Resort's Spinnakers Restaurant turned up the heat on Saturday for the Shareholders Sale at the Hastings Co-op Department store June Sale.

A good cross section of the community turned out to see the cooking expert prepare his three meals.
He tempted the taste buds with Crispy skinned Salmon, Half shell scallops & a beautiful pan-fried Barramundi. Michael took the attendees thru each demo with his clear and concise instructions and occasionally added in a help full tip.
Many of the customers stayed to watch the three separate demos, with one man making the comment "how fabulous it was to see a professional chef so close and accessible and he planned on making the Barramundi dish himself tonight at home".
Michael used local products in his dishes and continued to promote the mantra of shopping local and supporting local produces.
The Hastings Co-op Department store welcomes Michael back in December for the December Shareholders sale but in the meantime, "The Other Chef" Eric Robertson returns for his Friday lunchtime class on Friday July 25.
According to The Department Store's Manager Judy Standring, the sale was once again a huge success.
"The two day sale was a tremendous success and I would like to thank the many shareholders and customers for patronising the event.
"We love giving back to shareholders and the June 2 day sale is a great way of doing just that; we now are looking forward to our next big event in December," said Judy.
