Born on April 11, 1914, in Rowena, near Moree, Jean was thrilled to see some 60 family members from around Australia congregate in Wauchope to mark her centenary of life.
Jean Graham (nee Smith), was one of 12 children and was raised on a sheep station, "Nero", at Rowena, her son Carl told the Gazette.
After marrying, Jean raised five children while living in Armidale from 1935 to 1965, before the family moved to Port Macquarie for 12 years prior to moving to Wauchope for the last 20 years.
Aside from working on the family farm Jean never worked outside the home, Carl said, but was a skilled dressmaker.
Jean is a life-long lawn bowls fan and was one of the founding members of the Armidale City Women's Bowling Club.
Jean lived independently until two years ago, when she moved to Bundaleer Gardens.
Jean is also renowned as a cook, and her sponge cakes are especially prized around Wauchope.
A devoted church-goer, she never missed attending the Catholic service on Sunday.
Although now hearing impaired, Jean thoroughly enjoyed her 100th birthday party, Carl Graham said, and told him it was "absolutely fantastic seeing all those people".
Jean was joined by Carl, his daughter, grand-daughter and great grand-daughter to make up one of two sets of five generations of the family celebrating her 100th birthday.
