The Magpies got the gold in the grand final last season, and Michael Pelley and his men will be after revenge tomorrow. Macquarie will miss Dylan Rumble. He's out of action thanks to an oztag injury.
Pelley wasn't sure who would come in to replace Rumble.
The selectors were due to meet on Wednesday night to decide that.
Pelley said they were tossing up the idea of bringing in a batsman to shore up a shaky Macquarie lineup.
Macquarie chased down 173 to beat the Port Panthers Pirates last weekend, but before that the scores had been small.
"That was encouraging," Pelley said of the win over the Pirates.
"In the first two games the batsmen had been getting skittled. Chasing down big scores can give you a lot of confidence [at the back end of the season]."
With the two-dayers looming they start next weekend Pelley wanted some bigger scores out of his men on a consistent basis.
He said the longer cricket coming was something to be mindful of.
"That was the concern when we were getting skittled for low runs early," Pelley said.
In the other games of the round, Wauchope RSL takes on Comboyne at Andrews Park and the Pirates host Camden Haven at Oxley Oval.
