Port Macquarie-Hastings Council will set up a big screen in the Hay Street forecourt to watch James Magnussen take to the swimming pool blocks on August 2 at 5.15am local time.
Hundreds of people are expected to watch Magnussen compete in the blue riband Men’s 100m Freestyle final at the Games, which will be telecast live telecast on a 5m by 7m screen near the Glasshouse.
Council administrator Neil Porter said the event was developed in response to our town’s excitement about “our” elite athlete.
“There’s a real buzz around and to think someone from our community has a chance of winning gold is something very special,” he said.
