Strike Force Hyperion comprises detectives from the Drug Squad’s Cannabis Team, with assistance from the NSW Police Air Wing, Police Dog Unit, Metropolitan Radio Network Services and officers from local area commands.
Over the past week, the strike force has targeted numerous crops sites on the Mid-North Coast – at Bowraville, Wauchope, Port Macquarie and Kendall areas.
All up, police seized 2914 plants with, NSW Police says, an estimated potential street value of $5.8 million. All plants seized by police have been now been destroyed.
Six people will receive court attendance notices for cannabis cultivation and other offences.
This week’s raids follow operations in the Coffs/Clarence and New England Local Area Commands late last year. Police will continue to target outdoor cannabis crop sites in the coming months.
