The community has a chance to share their views about what should be on the newly elected council's horizon.
People's views will feed into the development of Port Macquarie-Hastings Council's delivery program between 2013 and 2017.
The four-year delivery program details the council's priorities as part of an integrated suite of planning documents.
Mayor Peter Besseling said this consultation was another opportunity for people to have their say about what they saw as priorities for our region but this time with a specific focus on the delivery program.
"It's part of an engagement process that is taken notice of," he said.
"It's an opportunity for everyone each individual to have their say and for it to be weighed on equal merit."
Cr Besseling said people's input would not be curtailed nor should it be. The mayor said he expected, encouraged and hoped people from across the local government area would respond to the call for community comment.
"We want people to be involved," he said.
"We want people to be open and honest in their discussions as well."
Cr Besseling said the Hastings Horizons community engagement process did not replace the day-to-day feedback but was simply another way for people to have an input.
The feedback will help the council to understand community priorities, the level of community satisfaction with council services, the issues which impact on social well-being and quality of life, and expectations about roads, parks and recreation facilities.
The council also conducted a telephone survey of more than 700 residents.
The survey looked at the satisfaction levels with council services and how important these services were to the community.
"Roads have obviously been a major issue and continue to be a priority for this council, particularly with the rate variation in place for the next four years," Cr Besseling said.
"With this research and engagement we want to be able to consider how we prioritise the other community expectations within the framework of what has been committed to roads."
The draft delivery program will go on exhibition in the first quarter of next year.
