The brilliant playmaker will look to go out on a winning note when his side faces off against the Beechwood Shamrocks in the Hastings League grand final at the Lank Bain Sporting Complex tomorrow.
The Magpie has announced that retirement will take place at the conclusion of the big game.
“Either way, win or lose, I think that’ll be it for me,” Walker admitted.
“It’s time to hang up the boots.
“But, it would be nice to finish on a high note, that’s for sure.”
To cap the celebrations off, Walker will also celebrate his 31st birthday on Sunday.
“It would be a good birthday present to take out the decider and get one back from last year,” he explained.
Walker was a member of the 2009 Macquarie Hotel grand final side, which was defeated by the Long Flat Dragons on the buzzer.
“My birthday fell on the actual game day last year and to get beat like we did was devastating,” he said.
“Hopefully, I can get one back in 2010.”
Standing in his way, however, is the dangerous Beechwood side.
After finishing fourth on the ladder, the Shamrocks have knocked out two heavyweights, Comboyne Tigers and the Dragons, in successive matches.
“Yeah, they are looking good,” Walker admitted.
“And, the other times we played them throughout the year, were close games too.
“We beat them on both occasions, but there were only a couple of tries in it each time, so it should be a cracker of a match.”
