We asked: What do you think is the biggest
problem facing parking in the CBD?
Would you pay for parking, and why?
The results showed:
* Paid parking would not be well received. Nearly 70 per cent of people surveyed said they wouldn’t pay for parking in the CBD;
* More all-day parking is needed for people working in and around the CBD;
* There aren’t enough spots in the centre of town;
* Workers in town are forced to move their cars to avoid getting a ticket; and
* Most everyone said the problem needed urgent attention.
Kali Crozier
Obviously there aren’t enough spots in town. I think some of the two-hour spots should be changed to five hours. I’ve lived in Sydney and paid for parking there.
We shouldn’t have to in a smaller town like Port Macquarie.
Elaine Borlase
I think the biggest problem in Port Macquarie is that there are very few all-day parking spots available.
Why should workers in town be disadvantaged? I would pay for all-day parking if it was reasonable and close to town.
Lisa Wedervang
The parking spots are very limited in time particularly in the main drag. I wouldn’t pay for parking in Port Macquarie.
Jenny Grilli
If you go on a two-hour tour which plenty of people do there are only a number of spaces with more than two-hour parking so you run the risk of a ticket. I would pay for parking if it was convenient - if you got what you paid for and it was affordable.
