The Town Green Inn and the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie on Hastings will host the fundraising night for the Brockways, whose uninsured house burned down late last month.
The blaze came only a fortnight after family patriarch, Chris Brockway, returned home from hospital.
Mr Brockway was involved in a tractor accident on his family’s avocado farm at Telegraph Point, just outside Port Macquarie, in June last year.
He broke every bone in his face, except for his bottom jaw, and suffered a bruised spine, which has confined him to a wheelchair.
Mr Brockway returned home to the farm and family he loves so much two weeks ago after 14 months in Sydney hospitals.
His wife Margaret and their children were looking forward to continuing the 63-year-old’s rehabilitation in the farmhouse that had been renovated to allow the father of seven to move around comfortably in his wheelchair.
But, on August 28, the uninsured house they loved and had spent an enormous amount of money renovating burnt to the ground.
Chris, Margaret and two of their children, Sam and Amy, now have no home to call their own.
Mr Brockway is staying at Bundaleer Nursing Home in Wauchope.
His family is scattered at friends’ houses while they try to raise enough money to rebuild their home.
Items up for auction at tomorrow’s fundraiser range from artworks to sports memorabilia.
They will include art by Ken Strong, Rupert Richardson and Garry Birdsall; a signed 2008 NSW State of Origin jersey, a rash vest worn by Kelly Slater in the Australian open and a Rip Curl shirt signed by Mick Fanning.
Other items include bottles of wine, hairdressing and beauty vouchers, MP4 and MP5 players, tents, tool kits and mobile phones.
Rotary club president Noelyn Tunstall said every item would be sold under the hammer.
“There are going to be some great bargains snapped up on the night,” she said.
Mrs Tunstall also will donate $1500 on behalf of the six Rotary clubs to the Brockways.
Chris Brockway will be there on the night from 6pm until about 8pm.
Suggested donation on entry is $10, from 7pm, which includes finger food.
