THE power of social media has prevailed. An impassioned video from Tacking Point Public School students has convinced celebrity gardener, Costa Georgiadis, to accept their invitation to officially open their sensory garden and outdoor garden.
Class teacher, Lina Jackson, and Verena Gandy, the garden’s coordinator, were stunned and equally as happy when they saw his reply on Facebook, which read:
“Wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow wow. What can I say about your amazing video Tacking Point Primary School. You have made me feel very special,” his comment said.
“And happy to think you went to all this effort. That's he best of the bestest videos I have seen. And of course I would LOVE LOVE LOVE To buzz BUZZ BUZZ to Port MacquRie (sic) and open your garden with all of you. Count me in!!!!”
At time of publication, the video had reached almost 8,400 views.
Mrs Jackson and her class were thrilled to hear from Costa within hours of the Port News reaching out to him.
Check out the video that melted Costa’s heart:
The garden will add to the learning capabilities of students at the school. Features include a sensory trail constructed from various materials that is part of the larger pathway system with no dead ends, and is wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair.
Other features include outdoor seating, a 20th anniversary paved area, outdoor musical instruments, plants and elements that reflect, excite and develop the five senses, and artwork and sculpture.
Plans will now be made to lock in a grand opening date for the garden, with Costa the special celebrity guest. The Port News will follow the progress and announce the date as soon as possible.
