The Port Macquarie futsal star will make her Herald Women's Premier League debut this weekend when the Panthers host Thornton at Lake Macquarie.
It takes the tally of individual Hastings players now playing in the competition to five after Imogene Tomasone, Sophie Jones and Maddy Stockham (New Lambton) and Rhali Dobson (Merewether).
Day was a pivotal player for Mid North Coast in their run to a first-ever finals appearance in 2017 before she took a 12-month break in 2018.
"Last year I started uni full-time as well and the travel to Newcastle is quite a commitment," she said.
"I just wanted to have a break, play futsal, study and see how that went; I wasn't planning on playing again this year, I was planning on having another year off to be honest."
But the midfielder admitted she missed playing football of a weekend.
When current Newcastle Jets W-League representatives Cassidy Davis and Jenna Kingsley picked up the phone, Day didn't need to be asked twice.
"They've got some great talent in their team as well so it will be good to play with them," she said.
The 24-year-old midfielder was expected to make her club debut last week, but Warners Bay's clash with Wallsend was washed out.
It means she will now head into her first match with the new club with the added benefit of a training session or two under her belt.
"I think it's a good thing to have that extra week and get a bit of training under my belt," Day said.
The focus will be on enjoyment and she is comfortable biding her time until a starting position becomes available.
"There are a lot of girls that have been training hard all pre-season so I can't come in and kick them out, I have to earn my spot and work for it," she said.
"The one thing about Warners Bay when I played them I respected them a lot as a team because they gave us a lot of respect.
"Hopefully I go alright and can help them out and contribute.
"They have a good history and have been top of the table for the last two or three seasons."
