Lake Cathie Bonny Hills Junior Rugby League Club is hosting a fundraiser to support Port Macquarie residents Bennett Powell and Mel Cockshutt in their participation of Tour de Cure in April.

Mel and Bennett have been training intensively to be in the best possible shape for a gruelling nine day, 1100-kilometre bicycle ride for cancer between Mackay, Cape Tribulation and Cairns.
It’s a ride that is close to Cockshutt’s heart after daughter Alani was diagnosed with leukaemia 10 years ago.
“That one second where you’re told your daughter has cancer really does change everything,” Cockshutt said.
The fundraising event is on Saturday, April 14 and will involve a number of clubs from the Port Macquarie-Hastings aged from under-6s up to under-15s.
The event is at the Lake Cathie Sporting Complex and starts at 8.30am.
There will be a jumping castle, a visit from emergency services, a raffle, donation bucket and other activities.
